The Supreme Court refused to hear a petition on April 29 seeking an extension of the internship deadline for candidates appearing in the NEET PG exam on June 23 this year.
After hearing the pleas for some time, a bench of Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, Justices J B Pardiwala, and Manoj Misra declared it could not prolong.
“I mean people are bound to fall on the side of a particular line when there is a cut-off,” the CJI said.
The bench, however, allowed petitioner Riddhesh, a resident of Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, to pursue the responsible authorities to whom he had previously made recommendations in this regard. It rejected the petition, stating that the issues were strictly policy-related.
The current deadline for internships to appear in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) PG is August 15.
