Description
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has published the exam dates for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025. GATE 2025 will take place on February 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025.
GATE 2025 will be administered as a computer-based test (CBT), with a total of 30 test papers. The exam will be held in both the morning and afternoon sessions. The application portal is scheduled to open in the latter week of August 2024, according to an IIT Roorkee release.
The GATE 2025 test papers will be in English only. Candidates will be able to take one or two test papers from the available two-paper combinations. The candidates' GATE scores will be valid for three years from the date of the announcement of results.
IIT Roorkee is the organizing institute for GATE 2025. GATE is jointly held by IISc and seven IITs, namely IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee, on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB) - GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.
Candidates who pass the GATE will be eligible to apply for admission to master's programs and direct doctoral programs in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts, and humanities, as well as doctoral programs in relevant branches of engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts, and humanities at institutions supported by the Ministry of Education (MoE) and other government agencies.
Some schools and institutes also evaluate GATE scores when admitting students to postgraduate programs without a MoE scholarship. Several public sector undertakings (PSUs) have also used GATE scores in recruitment.
