Description
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has opened the online application process for the Indian Economic Service (IES) and Indian Statistical Service (ISS) Examination 2026. Interested candidates can apply through the official website at upsc.gov.in. The deadline for submitting the application form is March 3, 2026.
After completing registration on the Online Application Portal, candidates will receive a Universal Registration Number (URN), which can be used for all future UPSC examinations. This recruitment drive aims to fill 44 vacancies.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be at least 21 years old and not more than 30 years old as of August 1, 2026. This means candidates should have been born between August 2, 1996, and August 1, 2005 (both dates inclusive).
Application Fee
Candidates are required to pay an application fee of Rs. 200. However, Female, SC, ST, and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) candidates are exempted from paying the fee. The payment can be made through Net Banking, Visa/Master/RuPay credit or debit cards, or UPI.
Selection Process
The selection procedure consists of two stages:
Part I: Written Examination – Total of 1000 marks, covering subjects mentioned in the detailed notification.
Part II: Viva Voce (Interview) – Total of 200 marks, for candidates shortlisted from the written examination.
All papers in the IES and ISS examinations will be of a conventional (essay-type) format, except for Statistics Paper I and Statistics Paper II, which will be objective-type.
