Narsee Monjee Institute Of Management Studies (NMIMS) LAT
Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies or NMIMS is an institute that started conducting its own Online Law Admission Test for undergraduate law programmes. Popularly known as NLAT or NMIMS LAT, the law entrance exam provides admission to integrated law courses- BA LLB (Hons.) and BBA LLB (Hons.) programmes.
NMIMS LAT Examination : Study Plan
Preparation for NMIMS LAT can certainly be completed in 60 days or 2 months. It does sound difficult but with all your attention, it is not an impossible job to do. Make sure that you are committing at least 6-8 hours of your focused attention every day. Identify your strengths and weaknesses and make your plan accordingly. While a strategy is important, following it scrupulously is even more important to crack this exam.
Two Months Study Plan
Month 1
1. Spend the first fortnight on covering the full syllabus. With merely two months in hand, candidates must double their efforts for the best results. They should study to cover more topics and assign more time to their study.
2. Find out the questions most likely to appear in the exam. And then begin with an easy topic of your choice from which many questions are expected. This will boost your morale. Intelligent and smart study very crucial when you have little time at hand.
3. At least three sections should be covered every day. Allot time according to your potential and efficiency of understanding. But make sure you dedicate at least a couple of hours to each section. In the first three days, a candidate must cover at least thirty percent of the syllabus along with revision at the end of the day for better retention of what has been studied.
4. Cover around 80 % of the syllabus within ten days and the pending difficult topics should be completed in the remaining five days. Aspirants must focus exclusively on the topics that are frequently raised in the examination.
5.Keep this time only for covering the syllabus. If you cover your syllabus within this stipulated time-frame, you can graduate to the next level.
Month 2 – Practice
The final step concerns practice. Remember, practice makes one perfect. Practice as much as you can. Usually, candidates wrap up their revision job within four weeks of the first month. They should start practice from that day and take online mock tests. Try tests online as the examination is conducted online. It will prepare and comfort you for the final examination. The more you practice the more speed and proficiency you will acquire for solving these questions. This is the period when you will discover the best strategy for attempting the exam.
NMIMS LAT Examination : Tips & Tricks
1. Focus on your Basic concepts : This is the first and foremost thing you should be doing while preparing for NMAT. Since it’s a test of efficiency, to ensure concept clarity on fundamental formulae and number operations, begin with basics such as LCM and HCF, odd and even, prime numbers.
2. Sharpen your mental calculation : This helps you tremendously to save time and quickly attempt all questions. Mental calculations will be very effective in both LAT Quants and DI.
3. Focus equally on all the sections : A lot of candidates tend to neglect Logical reasoning, often considering it as ‘easy’ and ‘manageable’. However, once they attempt the exam, they realize that they have lost a lot of marks just because they didn’t get enough practice! Don’t skip out on practicing LR daily, it’s your only way out.
4. Make a habit of reading editorials every day :To increase efficiency in this, you need to increase your comprehension skills for which you need to acknowledge and appreciate the contextual usage of words. One of the best ways to do this is by reading editorials (of newspapers) regularly.
5. Learn shortcuts and tricks to solving questions: To optimize your time, speed, and accuracy, you have to learn shortcuts and tricks for all sections. A lot of these are available on the net for free.
6. Give mocks : LAT Mocks should become your best friends during these 3 -4 months of your preparation phase. It becomes imperative for you to practice via mocks, both overall and section-wise, to excel in the test. Time management and prioritization are two integral capabilities that come handy in any entrance exam, and you can learn this only when you give mocks.
