Birla Institute of Science and Technology Admission Test (BITSAT) is an entrance exam conducted by the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, for admission to undergraduate engineering (BE) engineering courses in its three campuses located in Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad. Admission will be granted to candidates for BE, B.Pharm, and M.Sc. programs after qualifying the admission test.

EXAM PATTERN
BITSAT is held as an Online Computer Based Test which comprises 130 Objective Type Questions. Total time duration for the exam is 180 minutes.

EXAM PATTERN- HIGHLIGHTS
1- There is no time limit for individual parts of the test. The candidate can go back and change any of his/her answers to the 130 questions.
2- If a candidate answers all the 130 questions (without skipping any question), the candidate will have an option of attempting 12 (twelve) extra questions, if there is still time left. These extra questions will be from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, and Logical reasoning only; three questions from each of them. Further, once the candidate has opted for extra questions, he/she cannot go back for correction of any of the earlier answered 130 questions.
3- The questions are so designed that a good student will be able to answer 130 questions in 180 minutes. The extra questions (a maximum of 12) will give a chance to highly meritorious candidates to score higher. However, candidates should keep in mind the fact that there is negative marking for wrong answers and any attempt to answer the questions by pure guessing of the answers is not likely to have any advantage, but may result in a reduction in the total score.
4- The questions will be selected at random from a large question bank. Different candidates will get different question sets. An expert committee will ensure that the question sets are of comparable difficulty IV level, content, question type etc. In this matter, the decision of the expert committee will be final and binding on the candidate.
MODE OF EXAMINATION
The BITSAT examination is conducted as an Online computer based test. The questions asked are of Objective type multiple choice in nature.
MEDIUM OF EXAMINATION
All the questions and instructions of the test will be in English only. Candidates should bring a pen for the purpose of rough work, signing etc. Blank sheets for rough work will be provided, if required. Calculators and logarithmic tables are not allowed in the test centers. Candidates are not allowed to bring any other personal belongings such as mobiles.
MARKING SCHEME

Candidates willing to apply for BITSAT Examination are required to fulfil certain conditions to be eligible for it. The candidate who does not satisfy the Eligibility criteria like Age, Minimum educational qualification etc., their candidature shall be rejected by the authorities.
The criteria for eligibility BITSAT are decided by the conduction body itself.
The candidate’s eligibility for BITSAT Examination is based on the fulfilment of the following conditions:-

3. Educational Qualifications & Minimum Marks
NATIONALITY
All Indian and International candidates are eligible to apply for BITSAT examination. The admission procedure is same for International applicants as of Indian application.
AGE LIMIT
Only Students who are appearing for 12 th examination or who have passed 12th Examination are eligible to appear in the BITSAT test. There is no minimum age limit prescribed by the authority for BITSAT.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
For admission to all the above programmes except B. Pharm
Candidates should have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and adequate proficiency in English.
FOR ADMISSION TO B.PHARM
Candidates should have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and adequate proficiency in English. However, candidates with PCM may also apply for Pharmacy program.
Admission to all the programmes is subject to the conditions given below:
The candidate should have obtained a minimum of aggregate 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects (if he/she has taken Mathematics in BITSAT) or a minimum of aggregate 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects (if he/she has taken Biology in BITSAT) subjects in 12th examination, with at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics / Biology subjects.
If a candidate has taken more than one attempt in 12th class or its equivalent, only his latest performance is considered, provided this attempt has been for the full component of subjects/courses prescribed.
Note :- Admissions will be made purely on merit. The merit position of the candidate for admission will be based on the score obtained by the candidate in the BITSAT. However, their eligibility for admission is subject to fulfilling the requirement of minimum marks in 12th examination.
DIRECT ADMISSION TO BOARD TOPPERS
First rank students of all the central and state boards in India will be given direct admission to the program of their choice, irrespective of their BITSAT score as per the eligibility criteria mentioned above. Further details about this scheme will be available at BITS admission website.

1. Physics: This section was moderate. The questions asked from Magnetic field, rotational, thermodynamics, current, Electrostatics.
2. Chemistry: The question was formula based. Organic chemistry had the higher weightage. The questions were asked form P block, coordination compounds, equilibrium, chemical bonding, isomerism, and solutions. electrochemistry.
3. Maths: The difficulty level of this section was moderate to difficult. The questions were lengthy. The questions asked from topics like probability, integration, calculus, and linear programming.

1. Physics: As per the student's reactions the question was formula based. Class 12th weightage was high. Questions asked from Electricity, SHM waves, magnetic effect of current, fluids, thermodynamics, rotation, centre of mass and collision, kinematics.
2. Chemistry: Organic chemistry had the higher weightage. Question types were named reactions, and functional group tests. The questions asked from Electrochemistry, chemical bonding, coordination compounds, equilibrium, isomerism, and solutions. solid state.
3. Maths: Some questions were formula based. The questions were doable but lengthy. Students needed to manage their time wisely. The questions asked from topics like Vector 3D, differential equations, AOD, Determinants, probability straight lines, and linear programming.

BITSAT 2024: Who can apply

Admissions to all the programs are subject to the conditions given below:

First rank students of State and Central boards in India for the year 2024 will be given direct admission to the programme of their choice, irrespective of their BITSAT-2024 score as per the eligibility criteria. The BITSAT UG application cannot be sent by email/post. If you get any specific error while applying, please send an email to bitsat@pilani.bits-pilani.ac.in for help. You can visit the apply online page again on the official website of BITSAT exam and enter personal details and application number. You will again be taken to the printout page. There is no separate procedure for those candidates who wish to be admitted through BITSAT. They have to apply similar to Indian students and to provide an equivalence certificate from AIU at the time of applying for Admissions later.

The candidate should have a minimum of 75% or more in PCM/PCB in aggregate and a minimum of 60% or more in individual subjects (PCM/PCB) in the 12th class. PCM means only the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. PCB means only the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. PCB candidates are eligible to apply only for B.Pharm. Program. As per the BITSATmarking scheme: 3 marks will be awarded for every right answer and 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. No mark will be deducted for unattempted questions. The marks will be displayed immediately after a candidate finishes his/her BITSAT UG exam. There are around 3,000 seats in the different campuses of BITS Pilani under BE course. The distribution seats are BITS Pilani: 1,040 seats; BITS Pilani Hyderabad: 1,080 seats and BITS Pilani Goa: 850 seats.
