NMAT EXAM

NMAT is a national level entrance test conducted for MBA admissions at NMIMS University and other reputed B-Schools in India as well as abroad. Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies conducted NMAT until GMAC took over the authority. NMAT is designed keeping the test-taker's convenience in mind.

NMAT shares some features with GMAT as candidates are allowed to choose the preferred date during a testing window as well as self-schedule the test, time and venue, appointment date based on the availability of seats at the preferred test centre.

NMAT EXAM PATTERN

NMAT Exam Pattern has seen a few changes this year. NMAT exam will now be conducted in a revised pattern in two different testing modes Computer Based Test at Exam Centres and Online-Proctored test from home.

NMAT is an online exam of 360 marks. It consists of a total of 108 multiple-choice questions divided into 3 sections: Language Skills, Quantitative Skills, and Logical Reasoning.

Scaled scores: Questions in the NMAT by GMAC™ exam are selected from the question pool for each examinee based on his or her performance on the questions previously answered. The questions a candidate receives are targeted at his or her ability level; therefore, a high- scoring candidate generally receives a more difficult sample of questions than a low-scoring candidate. The NMAT by GMAC™ exam is scored by first obtaining the candidate’s final ability estimate based on the probabilistic model approach of modern exam theory, and then transformed to a scaled score ranging from 12 to 120. 

NMAT MODE OF EXAMINATION

NMAT Examination will be held as an Online Computer-based Test. Questions will be Objective type Multiple choice in nature.

NMAT MEDIUM OF EXAMINATION

The exam paper for NMAT Examination will be in English language Only.

NMAT MARKING SCHEME

1. Each of the three sections of NMAT Exam is individually timed.

2. There is no negative marking in NMAT exam.

Candidates willing to apply for NMAT Examination are required to fulfil certain conditions to be eligible for it. The candidate who does not satisfy the Eligibility criteria like Age, Minimum educational qualification etc., their candidature shall be rejected by the authorities. The candidate’s eligibility for NMAT Examination is based on the fulfilment of the following conditions:-

NMAT EXAM: NATIONALITY

There is no nationality criteria for NMAT.

There is no age limit to take the NMAT entrance exam.

NMAT EXAM: EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

1. Applicants should obtain a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institute with at least 50 percent marks.

2. Final year students of Bachelor’s degree (regular) are eligible to apply for NMAT as well and get provisional admission. However, it is only after clearing the final year exam in the first attempt with at least 50 percent marks, that candidates would be offered final admission.

NMAT COURSE-WISE ELIGIBILITY

NOTE 1. As per University Grants Commission (UGC) - "Degrees / Diplomas / Certificates awarded for programmes conducted by the Open & Distance Learning (ODL) institutions, recognized by Distance Education Council (DEC) (erstwhile) and UGC, in conformity with UGC Notification on specification of Degrees should be treated as equivalent to the corresponding awards of the Degree / Diploma / Certificate of the traditional Universities / institutions in the country''.

NOTE 2. AIU certificate is mandatory for those candidates who have completed their graduation from overseas Universities.

NOTE 3. If at any stage, it is found that a candidate does not satisfy the eligibility criteria or the information furnished by him / her in the online registration is incorrect, his/her application for the admission to the programme, even if selected and fees paid, will stand cancelled and fees forfeited. Language Skills

RC-related questions were moderate in difficulty, while the rest of the section was mostly easy.

Quantitative Skills

This part had most questions from the key areas of quantitative aptitude, followed by Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency. These include topics like Time and Work, Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Percentage, Ratio and Mixture, permutation & combination, probability, progressions, etc. DI sets were based on tables, charts, and line graphs. Logical Reasoning

This section had a nearly equal number of questions from verbal and non-verbal reasoning. These questions featured in the form of standalone as well as set formats. Non-verbal reasoning had questions from input-output, arrangements, ranking, and puzzles. Verbal reasoning part included questions from Critical reasoning, course of action, assumption-conclusion, strong/weak arguments, etc.

NMAT by GMAC Exam 2021 is being held from October 14 to December 27, 2021. NMAT 2021 comprised of 3 sections – each containing 36 questions. The option to skip to the next question without answering the current question was disabled, making it mandatory for the students to attempt all the questions.As per the available reports, the difficulty level of the NMAT 2021 question paper is Easy to Moderate. Quantitative Skills

Experts in NMAT 2020 Analysis suggest the questions of the Quantitative Skills section was toughest as compared to the other two sections. In total, there were 36 questions in this section from different topics such as Mathematics, Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency. The section was dominated by 12 questions from the DI area followed by 10 questions from the Arithmetic section and 7 questions from the Modern Maths area. There were little or no questions from Geometry and Algebra topics.

The rest of the questions in this section were easy and based on vocabulary and grammar concepts. NMAT EXAMINATION SELECTION PROCESS

1. Post the NMAT examination and based on the NMAT first attempt scores, candidates will be shortlisted for MBA programs. The call letter will be declared on our website.
2. The selection process may include a psychometric test or Written Analytic Test along with a Personal interview.
3. Weightage will be given to academic performance and work experience.No separate call letter will be mailed.
4. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the application data in terms of academic marks obtained, work experience, and marks obtained in NMAT by GMAC™ and WAT - Personal Interview.
5. The selection criteria will be based on merit only. The decision regarding the cut-off of the merit list will solely lie with NMIMS. 1. Manage Your Time :- You have to try to attempt 120 questions in 120 minutes in the examination. This means that you have only one minute for each question. Thus, you need to learn smart shortcuts to crack the exam. You can refer to the shortcuts provided by your coaching institutes. 

2. Work on Weak Areas and Strengthen Strong Areas :- You must strive to work on your weak areas and strengthen strong areas. To do this, you must understand and practice the solved examples, then, practice unsolved exercises and afterward proceed to NMAT Mock Test.

3. Practice Subjects in An Alternative Way :- While preparing for the exam, try to practice subjects in an alternative way. Study the Quantitative section on one day and the Verbal section on the second day. This will help you maintain your practice mood. For example, devote Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to the Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning section and devote Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday to Quantitative skills.

4. Self-Assess :- For effective exam preparation, you must evaluate your performance from time to time. When you evaluate and analyze your performance on a regular basis, you will know where you are lack and you will be able to improve on your mistakes.

2. Work on Weak Areas and Strengthen Strong Areas :- You must strive to work on your weak areas and strengthen strong areas. To do this, you must understand and practice the solved examples, then, practice unsolved exercises and afterward proceed to NMAT Mock Test.

3. Practice Subjects in An Alternative Way :- While preparing for the exam, try to practice subjects in an alternative way. Study the Quantitative section on one day and the Verbal section on the second day. This will help you maintain your practice mood. For example, devote Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to the Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning section and devote Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday to Quantitative skills.

4. Self-Assess :- For effective exam preparation, you must evaluate your performance from time to time. When you evaluate and analyze your performance on a regular basis, you will know where you are lack and you will be able to improve on your mistakes.

STEPS TO FILL NMAT EXAM ONLINE APPLICATION FORM

Step 1- Registration: Visit the official website for NMAT registration. Click on the ‘Register Now’ link hovering on the homepage if you are a first-time applicant.

Step 2- Confirmation of Password: The registration window will open. Fill in basic details such as name, phone number, email ID and click on the 'Register' button. After registration, candidates will receive their user ID and password in the registered email ID and phone number.

Step 3- Filling out the application form: At this stage, candidates had to enter all the relevant details carefully before submitting the NMAT application form. After this, an application number was generated.  Select up to five B-schools in order of your preference where NMAT by GMAC can send scores for the selection process using the 'School Preference' section.

Step 4- Photo & Signature Upload: Upload scanned copy of passport size photograph of not more than 1 MB and the file should be in JPG/JPEG or PNG format.

Step 5- Exam centre: Select exam-taking option between test centre and online remote proctored mode at home.

Step 6- Pay the NMAT registration fee: using any of the options - Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard, VISA, and Mobile Wallets.Book exam slot.

NMAT EXAM ADMIT CARD

Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) will provide NMAT admit card to the candidates within 24 hours after their successful NMAT registration and scheduling of the NMAT exam date. Eligible candidates can download the admit card with their credentials such as application number and date of birth. No candidate will receive an NMAT Admit card by email, fax, etc. It includes details such as the candidate's name, test date, test time, and test center. Candidates can follow the below-mentioned steps to download admit card for the NMAT exam:

STEP 1- Visit the NMAT official website
STEP 2- Click on the ‘Download NMAT Admit card’ link provided on the website.
STEP 3- Login to the NMAT by GMAC account
STEP 4- Click on the NMAT admit card download link and the same will be downloaded in pdf format.
STEP 5- Take a printout of the NMAT admit card for future reference.

NMAT Result is released in the form of a scorecard within 48 hours of taking the exam. An email notification is also sent regarding the availability of the same.
