SALARY ALLOWANCES:
Besides the essential pay, a Junior Engineer within the Railways is entitled to various allowances and perks that add to their salary giving a hike in their respective salaries.
1. HRA i.e. House Rent Allowance- HRA depends on the city/town the employee resides in. It’s generally higher in X and Y cities than Z cities. The Rate of the HRA varies from Rs 5,400, Rs 3,600 and Rs 1,800 in X, Y and Z cities respectively.
Categories of Cities/Towns Rate of House Rent Allowances- Every month along with the basic pay a house rent allowance is also given.
X cities- 24%
Y cities- 16%
Z cities- 8%
2. Dearness Allowance- The Dearness Allowance may be a cost of living adjustment allowance and is currently 28% of the basic pay under the 7th Pay Commission. When the dearness allowance (DA) crosses 25%, the rates of the HRA are going to be revised to 27%, 18% and 9% for X, Y and Z cities and furthermore revised to 30%, 20% and 10% when the DA crosses 50%.
3. Travel Allowance- The travel allowance for travelling depends on the distance the employee travels every day from home to the workplace. The allowance shall increase if the employee is required to do more fieldwork.
4. Medical Allowance- To make sure that the employees can provide for their day-to-day medical expenses they are given a fixed medical allowance. The Government shall bear the medical expenses for them also in case of a severe medical emergency.
5. Other Special Allowances- Other allowances in JE through SSC is additionally eligible for other special allowances like for recreational activities, leaves etc.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Nationality:
A candidate applying for the SSC JE Exam must be either –
A Citizen of India or
A subject of Nepal or
A subject of Bhutan or
A a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or
A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) & (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

How Can Apply:

Step 3: Look at the New User/Register Now link.
Step 4: To begin with the SSC JE Apply Online, a candidate needs to provide basic details of themselves like name, parents' name, date of birth, email id, mobile number etc.
Step 5: Look at the submit button to submit your online registration form of SSC JE ( It is advised that candidates verify their details before submitting the form. All the candidates will be issued a Registration ID for SSC JE exam) Candidates are required to log in with the provided Registration ID, date of birth and password to complete registration for SSC JE.
Step 6: In the next step, candidates are required to upload photograph and signature.
Step 7: Login with registered ID and password to complete the Part-II of the application form of SSC JE.
Step 8: After filling out the application form, candidates must preview the entire application of SSC JE. The application form once submitted cannot be edited again.
Step 9: Look at the Final Submit button after previewing the complete online SSC JE Application form and pay the required application fee.
Step 10: It is advised that Candidates download and get print copies of the submitted application form of SSC JE.

EXAM PATTERN:
In Paper- I there will be 200 questions from 3 sections ( General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and General Engineering )
The time duration of the SSC JE Paper- I Exam is 120 minutes.
There will be Negative Marking Equal to One-third of the marks allotted to the question for each wrong answer in Paper- I.
The questions will be of an Objective type.
All the questions will be set in both English and Hindi Languages.

Entry in Examination Centres:
1. Candidates must not forget to take their admit card with ID proof and 2 recent colored photographs.
2. No use of electronic items, books, or watches allowed inside the examination hall.
3. Candidates should reach the examination center 1 hour prior to the commencement of the exam.
4. A rough sheet will be provided at the examination hall.
5. Candidates cannot leave the examination center without the conclusion of the SSC JE exam.
6. Candidates need to follow all the instructions given by the invigilator.
7. Candidates found with debarred items will be disqualified from the exam.
Mode of Selection:
1. The process starts with filling out the application process in which the candidates have to give their preferences for different departments.
2. Candidates then appear for Paper- I.
3. Candidates who can qualify the cut-off for Paper- I proceeds for Paper two. Paper-II is a descriptive one.
4. After qualify the Paper- II, the marks of Paper- I and II are combined to form a merit list.
5. Candidates in the merit list, proceed for Document Verification.
6. After Document Verification, candidates will be Allotted Departments based on the Marks they got and the preference they gave at the time of applying for the Exam.

Step 3: Enter the required credentials Registration ID and date of birth/password.
Step 4: Look at the Submit button.

Step 1: Visit the Staff Selection Commission official website.
Step 2: Go to the results option.
Step 3: Select the "Junior engineer" result tab from the "Results" menu.
Step 4: Look at the official link containing the result PDF of qualified candidates for SSC JE Final Result.
Step 5: In the search field, type your Roll Number or click "Ctrl + F" and then enter Roll No.
Step 6: If your number has been included, you have been qualified.
