NEET UG Examination 2024: Latest Update

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has re-opened the NEET correction window 2024 from April 11 to April 12 and for aadahr verified applicants till April 15. The NTA re-opened the NEET 2024 registration window from April 9 to April 10. Earlier, the application form of NEET 2024 was closed on March 16 and the correction window was closed on March 20. The NEET 2024 exam will be conducted on May 5.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts NEET UG once in a year. The single national-level undergraduate medical entrance exam, NEET UG 2024 will be held for admission to 645 medical, 318 dental, 914 AYUSH, and 47 BVSc and AH colleges in India.

NEET(UG) EXAM PATTERN

NEET(UG) Examination is to be conducted in offline mode (Pen & Paper) which consists of a total of three sections viz. Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology). There will be a total of 180 questions which will contain a total of 720 marks. The question paper will contain Objective type questions only. The total time duration for NEET(UG) examination is 180 minutes.

Marking Scheme Highlights

1. For each correct answer in NEET(UG) - 4 marks will be awarded.

3. No marks will be deducted for any question left unattempted in NEET(UG) Examination.
4. Once a candidate marks the answer in NEET OMR SHEET, no changes can be made to it.

NEET(UG) AGE LIMIT AND RELAXATIONS

Eligibility for appearing in NEET(UG)Examination is as per related Regulations is as follows:- He/She has completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete that age on or before 31 December of the year of his/her admission to the first year Undergraduate Medical Courses.

NOTE:- However, court cases regarding NEET age limit are still going on. Various judgments and hearings are pending at the Supreme Court of India. As per the words of officials “the candidates above 25 years are provisionally permitted to appear and their candidature is subject to the outcome of pending petitions before the Honourable Supreme Court”.

NEET(UG) ELIGIBILITY FOR SEATS

Under the control of States/Deemed Universities/Central Universities/ESIC and AFMC including Delhi University (DU), BHU & AMU/central pool quota, AIIMS, JIPMER:-

1. Indian Nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), Persons with Indian Origin (PIO), and Foreign Nationals are eligible for admission in Medical/Dental/Ayurveda/Siddha/Unani/Homeopathy.
2. Colleges are subject to rules and regulations framed by the respective State Governments, Institutions, and the Government of India as the case may be.
3. Foreign Nationals may confirm their eligibility from the concerned Medical/Dental/ Ayurveda/ Siddha/Unani/Homeopathy College/State.
4. Notwithstanding anything stated above, the eligibility criteria to appear in NEET(UG) shall also be applicable to the candidates desirous to take admission in Undergraduate Medical Courses in concerned INIs like AIIMS.

For candidates from UT of J&K and Ladakh:-

1. Students from UT of J&K and Ladakh are not eligible for 15% All India Quota seats as UT of J&K and Ladakh have opted out of All India Scheme since its inception. If they claim eligibility, they must submit an online Self Declaration which will be generated and printed automatically along with a confirmation page for the record and they need to present the same during counseling.
NOTE:-The Self-Declaration Form is given in Appendix- III.
2. The Self Declaration Form submitted by the candidate will be verified at the time of counseling. If the declaration is found to be false at any time, the candidature/admission of such candidates shall be cancelled and criminal proceedings may be initiated against such candidates.
3. Candidates from the UT of J&K and Ladakh can appear in NEET(UG) for admission to Private Medical/Dental/Ayurveda/Siddha/Unani/Homeopathy Colleges or any Private/Deemed University and AFMC, AIIMS, JIPMER subject to the fulfillment of respective eligibility conditions.

For 15% All India Quota Seats:-

1. Indian Nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) and Foreign Nationals are eligible for 15% All India Quota Seats.
2. Admission under State Quota Seats shall be subject to reservation policy and eligibility criteria prevailing in the State/Union Territory as notified by the respective State/Union Territory from time to time.
3. The reservation of the seats in medical colleges for respective categories shall be as per applicable laws prevailing in the State/Union Territory concerned.
4. Admission to Undergraduate Medical Courses in Private Medical Colleges shall be subject to policies of the Government of India/State/Union Territory.

For 85% State Quota Seats:-

1. The 85% state quota seats refer to the seats in all the government colleges of the state or union territories. The NEET counselling for state quota seats will be conducted by the respective state authorities. In order to apply for the state quota seats, candidates must fulfil the NEET eligibility criteria specified by each state/union territory.
2. The admissions into private medical and dental colleges of the states will also be based on the NEET eligibility.

NEET(UG) QUALIFICATIONS & QUALIFYING CODES

To be eligible for NEET(UG) Examination, candidates need to refer to following table for qualifying examination criteria :-

CODE: 01	Candidates who have passed or are appearing at the qualifying Examination (12^th Standard) with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as main subject and expect to pass the Examination with required percentage of marks are also eligible to apply and appear in the NEET (UG) Examination. NOTE :- The candidature will be considered only if candidates provide documentary evidence of having passed the qualifying Examination with the required subjects and percentage of marks at the time of first round of Counselling.
CODE: 02	Candidates who are studying from the higher/senior secondary examination or Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE) which is equivalent to the Class 12 examination and comes after a period of 12 years of study are eligible under this code. As per the National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT), the last two years of this study must comprise science subjects namely Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and Mathematics or any other elective subjects with English as a core subject. Candidates who have qualified Class 12 and have not pursued any other course after the completion of Class 12 have to choose this code. NOTE :- Candidates who have passed 10+2 from Open School or as private candidates shall not be eligible to appear for ‘National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test’. Furthermore, study of Biology/Biotechnology as an Additional Subject at 10+2 level also shall not be permissible. This is the subject matter of challenge before the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi, Hon’ble High Court of Allahabad, Lucknow Bench and Hon’ble High Court of Madhya Pradesh at Jabalpur.Therefore, the candidature of candidates in the NEET (UG) who have passed the qualifying examinations i.e. 10+2 from National Institute of Open Schooling or State Open Schools or as private candidates from recognised State Boards; or with Biology/Biotechnology as additional subject shall be allowed but subject to the outcome of Special Leave Petitions/Appeals filed by the Medical Council of India).
CODE: 03	The Intermediate/Pre-degree Examination in Science of an Indian University/Board or other recognised examining body with Physics, Chemistry, Biology /Biotechnology (which shall include practical test in these subjects) and also English as a compulsory subject.
CODE: 04	The Pre-professional/Pre-medical Examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English after passing either the Higher Secondary Examination or the Pre-University or an equivalent examination. The Pre-professional/Pre-medical examination shall include practical tests in these subjects and also English as a compulsory subject.
CODE: 05	The first year of the three years’ degree course of a recognised University with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology including practical tests in these subjects provided the examination is a University Examination and candidate has passed the earlier qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Biotechnology with English at a level not less than a core course.
CODE: 06	B.Sc. Examination of an Indian University provided that he/she has passed the B.Sc. Examination with not less than two of the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology)/Biotechnology and further that he/ she has passed the earlier qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.
CODE: 07	Any other examination which in scope and standard (Last 02 years of 10+2 Study comprising Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology; which shall include practical test in these subjects) is found to be equivalent to the Intermediate Science Examination of an Indian University/Board, taking Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology including practical tests in each of these subjects and English.

Note :-

1. The candidates applying for NEET (UG) shall be eligibile only under one of the above codes.
2. If a candidate does not fall within the qualifications prescribed as per Code number 01-07, he/she should furnish complete details to determine eligibility.
3. The candidates who have studied from the Foreign/International Board should ensure that the qualifying examination passed by them are, in scope and standard, as explained in CODE: 07.
4. Marks obtained in Mathematics are not to be considered for eligibility for admission to Undergraduate Medical Courses.

NEET(UG) NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS

The National Testing Agency has not prescribed any limit on the number of attempts for NEET(UG)Examination the candidates can appear as a number of times as they want to.

NEET(UG) ELIGIBILITY HIGHLIGHTS

1. Indian Nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), Persons with Indian Origin (PIO) and Foreign Nationals are eligible for NEET(UG) Examination.
2. National Testing Agency has set the Lower Age Limit of 17 years and no Upper Age Limit has been set.

NEET 2023, a common and uniform National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for admission to undergraduate medical education in all medical institutions, was conducted on Sunday, May 7, 2023 (Sunday) in pen and paper mode in 13 languages. It was carried out in 499 Indian cities as well as cities outside of India from 2:00 p.m. to 05:20 p.m. (Indian Standard Time).

Out of 200 questions, the students had to try 180 of them. There were four marks for each question. One mark is subtracted from the correct answer, which earns four marks. Four subject-wise divisions (Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology) comprised these 200 questions. There are subsections (A and B) in each of these sections. All of the questions in Section A had to be answered, and in Section B, each subject had 15 questions total, of which 10 were to be answered.

1. Easy to moderate difficulty was assigned to the subject of physics. Most of the questions were moderately difficult and easy. All of the main units received a same number of questions, the majority of which were NCERT-based.

2. Of all the subjects, chemistry was recognized as the most challenging. Physical chemistry was not as important as inorganic and organic chemistry.

3. Botany's difficulty was assessed as simple to moderate. Most of the questions were moderately difficult and easy.
On the difficulty scale, zoology was given an easy to moderate rating. Most of the questions were moderately difficult and easy.

The overall difficulty of NEET UG 2023 was easy to moderate. The order of difficulty in different subjects- as assessed by our experts is Botany < Zoology < Physics < Chemistry.

Overall Review Compared to Previous Year

Overall the paper was found to be slightly easier than NEET 2022. Compared to last year, Chemistry was found to be on the marginally tougher side. The questions in Chemistry were more tricky and lengthy than last year. The rest of the subjects were almost of similar difficulty compared to last year.

Cutoff to secure a seat in government colleges (All India Quota)

The marks expected to secure a seat in government colleges (All India Quota) would have been similar to the previous year (2022), i.e. 580 to 610 as this time the number of students who attended the exam were nearly 19 lakh, which is 18% (approximately) higher than the previous year, hence expected marks might range from 590 to 620.

NEET(UG)2021 PAPER ANALYSIS

The NEET(UG)2021 analysis was prepared based on expert opinions and student feedback the difficulty level of the exam is moderate. Physics was rated as the hardest section while biology was rated as the easiest section in NEET(UG)2021 the pattern change has resulted in the test-taking longer than usual. NEET(UG)2021 BIOLOGY PAPER ANALYSIS

The biology section was the simplest section in the NEET(UG)2021.This section consisted of 90 questions divided into botany and zoology questions. Experts said the botany section was more difficult than the zoology section. On the other hand, the zoology section was mainly asked from the class 12 syllabus.

1. The difficulty level was high in comparison to previous years.

NEET(UG)2019 PAPER ANALYSIS

NEET(UG) (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Under Graduation) is a national level test conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Q. Who conducts the NEET(UG) Exam?
A. The NTA (National Testing Agency) is the regulatory body for NEET exams since the year 2019.

Q. What is National Testing Agency (NTA)?
A. The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has set up ‘National Testing Agency’ (NTA), (www.nta.ac.in) a premier testing Agency, to conduct computer-based entrance examinations, for higher educational institutions. This shall bring in transparency and qualitative difference in the Competitive examination process.

Q. What are the Examinations to be conducted by NTA?
A. Entrance Examinations JEE (Main), UGC-NET Assessments for fellowship, CMAT & GPAT, NEET (UG)

Q. Whether all the Examinations conducted by NTA will be offline or online?
A. All the above Examinations will be computer-based tests except NEET Exam. NEET will be a single Exam in Pen-and-Paper Mode and will be conducted in the same no. of languages as was conducted last year.

Q. Is NTA providing Free Coaching to the Students?
A. As of now, NTA is providing only free Mock tests to the students in Test Practice Centre (TPC). The same facility will also be available on the website www.nta.ac.in and NTA Student App.

Q. What is a Test Practice Centre (TPC)?
A. The Ministry of Human Resource Development has mandated the NTA to set up, establish and create a network of Test Practice Centres for candidates, especially in remote and rural areas to enable them to practice and be comfortable in taking a Computer Based Test (CBT). This facility will be completely free of cost. This will facilitate and ease the process of being able to take a Computer Based Test (CBT). The entire experience of using a computer will be as close to the actual experience of taking a CBT. All efforts will also be made to provide practice tests and questions so that candidates can familiarize themselves with logging into the system, go through the detailed instructions regarding the test, use the mouse, scroll down to the next question, navigate between questions, review and edit their options and submit questions. It will also offer Mock Test.

Q. What is the primary objective of the Test Practice Centers (TPC)?
A. The objective of TPCs is primarily to familiarize the candidates for taking the upcoming NTA examinations in Computer Based Test Mode.

Q. What is the test format for NEET (UG) ?
A. NEET(UG) will be conducted in offline mode (Pen & Paper).

Q.How many qestions are in NEET (UG) ?
A.NEET(UG) will contain 180 questions Multiple Choices with a total of 720 Marks.

Q. What is the time duration of NEET (UG) exam?
A. The total duration of the examination is 180 minutes (3 hours).

Q. I have chosen Hindi as the medium for the question paper. Will the questions be only in Hindi?
A. According to NEET pattern the question paper for the candidates who have chosen Hindi as the medium will be bilingual. The second language of the question paper will be English.

Q. I marked two answers for a question. One of the answers is correct. Will I get full marks for this question?
A. According to the NEET pattern a question for which more than one response is marked on the OMR sheet will be considered incorrect. For such questions, one mark would be deducted.

3. FAQ RELATED TO NEET(UG) APPLICATION FORM

Q. What is the application fee for NEET (UG)?
A. General category – 1500 rupees, OBC-NCL and General-EWS – 1400 rupees, SC/ST/PWD/transgender – 800 rupees, Processing charges & Goods and Services Tax (GST) are as applicable.

Q. What is the mode of payment of the application fee?
A. Can be done through online mode, net banking, debit/credit cards, or even UPI through SBI/Syndicate/ICICI/HDFC and even Paytm service providers

Q. What is the proof for fee payment made to the NTA for NEET?
A. Generation of confirmation page means the fee is successfully paid. Details of the payment will be given in the bottom-most part of the confirmation page.

Q. Should I upload a photo with white background, date, and name at the bottom?
A. Previously it was compulsory to upload a passport size photo with a white background along with the date and name at the bottom of the picture. The latest official notification on the same indicates that officials have declared that photos without a name and date would also work

Q. I made an online payment, but my confirmation page has not been generated yet?
A. This can be due to the bank server connectivity issue. If you face this issue, it is recommended to wait for at least 24 hours. If it is not yet generated, pay the fee once again and take a printout of the confirmation page. The excess amount will be refunded automatically into the same account from where the amount was remitted. Contact the bank if the issue still persists.

Q. When I was to submit my application form, my session was displayed as expired when I tried to submit it consequently the form was left unsubmitted. What to do?
A. Candidates must ensure that they submit the application form within a maximum time span of 30 minutes as the session expires immediately after 30 minutes. Save one part of the form as a draft continue this similarly before starting a new one. This way, data is not lost. It is recommended to keep the required data handy before commencing.

Q. Which fields can be edited in the correction window?
A. NTA provides the correction window facility once the application form filling concludes. Only some fields can be rectified such as – birthplace, question paper medium, choice of NEET exam cities, address, academic details, parents’ name.

Q. Can class 12 qualifying code be edited in the NEET (UG) application form?
A. Yes, the qualifying code can be edited. Login credentials should be used for the same.

Q. Can I change/update my photograph through the correction window?
A. Those candidates who have uploaded a blurry image will be informed through mail to upload a clear image as per the specifications laid down by the NTA. These images must be uploaded within the specified time period. Login credentials are sufficient to upload a passport size photo.

Q. Will my application be rejected if I upload an image with no name and a white background?
A. Officials have issued a notice that photos without a name, date, or white background will not be rejected.

4. FAQ RELATED TO NEET(UG) ADMIT CARD

Q. Unable to check application status, Would I be able to download NEET Admit card ?
A. You must enter the password and registration number to download the admit card. One can download the admit card if the candidate has a confirmation page and status cannot be checked.

Q. Unable to get admit card, whom to contact?
A. If unable to download the admit card from the official website, get in touch with the exam conducting officials immediately. It can be intimated to the officials through e-mail.

Q. What documents should I carry to the examination hall?
A. Along with the admit card, one must carry the following to the exam centre – passport size photo, one photo affixed onto the attendance sheet, valid Id proof.

Q. Particulars printed on my admit card are incorrect, what to do?

Q. I have misplaced my application number, how to retrieve it?
A. If forgotten or lost, you can retrieve it by:
1. Visiting the official website.
2. Clicking on the ‘forgot registration number’ option under current events.
3. Login with name, parents’ name, DOB, security pin, and category.
4. For downloading the admit card, an application number will be sent on the mail id registered.

Q. What to do if I misplaced my NEET admit card?
A. After downloading the NEET admit card, candidates will be sent a soft copy of the same to their registered mail ID. In case it is lost, you can check your mail and retrieve it.

Q. When to enter the examination hall?
A. The NEET exams commence from 2 pm onwards. One can enter the hall 2 hours prior, from 12 pm onwards. But entry to the exam center would only be after 1:30 pm.

Q. What dress code should be followed?
A. For Male Candidates
1. Wear light colors, T-shirts/half-sleeved shirts. Full shirts are not permitted.
2. Kurta-pyjamas are not allowed.
3. No fancy pockets, zips, big buttons or even embroidery, etc. shall be entertained
4. Wear trousers.
5. Wear sandals, slippers as shoes are not permitted.
For Female Candidates
1. Prefer light colors. Avoid elaborate prints, embroidery, zips, sleeves, brooches, buttons.

5. FAQ RELATED TO NEET(UG) ADMIT CARD

Q. What is percentile rank?
A. It is the percentage of a score falling below a particular score in a group. It can be calculated as provided below:

Q. Does NTA release the NEET result and state merit list together?
A. No. Only the NEET results will be announced. State merit list will not be released on the day of the result declaration. Candidates selected under the 15% AIQ category are eligible to take part in the counselling process. The state counselling officials use NEET scores to generate the state merit list for candidates seeking admissions under the 85% state quota. Basis the merit rank in the state rank list, admissions will be allowed to the medical institutes.

Q. How is NEET scorecard different from the NEET rank letter?
A. NEET scorecard is the candidate’s result scheduled to be announced soon, having the following details:

NEET rank letter is available for download to only the 15% AIQ merit list candidates.

Q. What to do if my NEET(UG) result does not get me admission to a good medical college? Not willing to drop a year one more time.
A. If this is the case, you can still wait for the state merit list to be released. But you have to apply for 85% state quota seats if you are domicile of that state. This is why, during mock tests, candidates are recommended to drop a year, attempt next time aiming for higher than 580 as a score. As dropping a year is a harder decision, students will be motivated to perform well in exams, serving as a push.

NEET UG Examination 2024: Latest Update

NEET(UG) EXAM

NEET(UG) is a National Eligibility cum Entrance Test conducted by the the National Testing Agency (NTA).It is the only entrance test for those wishing to take admission in MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, Veterinary and other medical courses in India are eligible to be approved for more than 75,000 MBBS seats and 25,000 BDS seats across the country. In addition, candidates who are willing to BSc Nursing must apply for NEET(UG) . Based on the latest NEET(UG) exam pattern, NTA conducts the admission test in pen and paper mode. The NEET(UG) exam lasts three hours, where candidates have to answer multiple choice questions (MCQ) from the subjects of physics, chemistry and biology according to the specified NEET(UG) syllabus.

After passing the NEET(UG) exam, the authority creates a merit list of (India-wide rank / state rank) based on the mark scored on entrance test. The students are invited to the counseling process according to the ranks in the ranking list. All the government and private medical colleges will provide admission under 15% AIQ and 85% State quota level seats. STEPS TO FILL ONLINE NEET(UG) APPLICATION FORM

1. New User Registration: Go to the official website of neet.nta.nic.in Click on "NEET-UG" Click on "New Registration". Candidates willing to apply for NEET (UG) shall be required to create an online profile of themselves to generate a UserID and Password.

2. Applicant Login: This User ID and Password so created will allow the candidate to log in as an applicant for NEET (UG) and register an online application. The “Go To Application” link will allow the candidate to continue with the application submission immediately after user creation. If the login password is lost, it can be retrieved by clicking “Forgot Your Password”.

3. Filling up the NEET(UG) application form: After completing the registration process. candidates have to click on 'Complete Application Form'.It is mandatory to fill remaining details in the application form of NEET(UG).

4. Upload of Prescribed Documents & Images (Photograph, Scanned Signatures, and Thumb Impression): Please refer to Image Upload Instructions available at official website and at the end of this information bulletin for details of specifications for uploading photographs, signatures, and thumb impression. Images that are not as per prescribed specification shall not be considered and may lead to rejection of the application.

5. Choose your Test City and pay the Examination Fee:The test city can be selected from available choices on a first come first serve basis. While the city will be chosen by the candidate himself/herself at the time of online submission of application form, allotment of test center/venue in the chosen city shall be done.

6. Agree to the declaration and Submit the Application: Candidates must ensure that the Credit/Debit card used for payment is within the validity period. For net banking, it is advisable to check the balance of the account and keep all the credentials ready before logging on to submit the application form.
Once the application fee is paid, a confirmation page or acknowledgment receipt will be generated. This means that the application for NEET (UG) has been successfully submitted. A copy of the NEET(UG) acknowledgment or confirmation page will also be sent to the registered email as well as the mobile number of the candidates. Candidates are advised to save this acknowledgment receipt for future reference. They are also advised to take a printout of the same for reference.

NEET(UG) EXAM ADMIT CARD

NEET(UG) admit card carry all the necessary details like subject codes, roll number of the student, venue, date, and time for the examination. Candidates will have to carry their NEET(UG) admit card along with a valid Id proof to the examination center. Entry without the admit card will be prohibited. Generally, the NEET(UG) admit card or hall ticket is released two weeks before the exam in online mode. Several steps to download admit card are-

STEP 1- Visit the official website.
STEP 2- Click on the tab indicating “Neet Admit Card Link"
STEP 3- Enter application number, date of birth from the dropdown menu and the security pin
STEP 4- Click on “Submit”
STEP 5- A mandatory COVID-19 precautionary undertaking form has to be filled and submitted
STEP 6- A tab to download the admit card of NEET(UG)will appear on the screen
STEP 7- Check the details mentioned on the admit card
STEP 8- Download the NEET(UG) admit card.

NEET(UG) EXAM RESULT

Candidates should note that the NEET(UG) result will be considered final for ranking. The NTA will not consider a request to re-evaluate the answer sheet after the NEET(UG) result is announced. The role of the NTA is limited to the publication of the NEET(UG) result and the creation of the merit list. Candidates who qualify for NEET(UG) are eligible to participate in the NEET(UG) counseling process, which takes place at both state and national levels. The national-level counseling for admission to the 15 percent All India quota seats will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). Several step to download result:

STEP 1- Go to the official website of Neet UG Exam.
STEP 2- Navigate to the 'View Result' tab.
STEP 3-Candidates who have completed the phase 2 registration process will only be able to download and check the result.
STEP 4-Login using registration Id and password generated at the time of registration
STEP 5-View your NEET(UG) scorecard
STEP 6- Download and print the scorecard

Note: There shall be NO re-evaluation or rechecking or re-totaling of responses marked by the candidates. Requests/Queries for reevaluation/re-totaling shall not be entertained.

TIE BREAKER CRITERIA

When two or more applicants secure the same marks in NEET(UG) result such applicants can't share the identical rank in NEET(UG) merit list. Hence, NTA has a tie-break mechanism for such situations. The following parameters are taken into consideration withinside the case of a tie in scores:

1. Candidate with better marks in Biology may be assigned a better rank than the alternative candidate
2. If the marks scored withinside the Biology phase are equal, the candidate with better marks in Chemistry may be assigned a better rank than the alternative candidate
3. If marks scored in Biology and Chemistry are equal, the candidate with a lesser variety of wrong solutions may be assigned a better rank
4. Till the remaining 12 months, there has been an age component worried withinside the tie-breaking protocol, in which the candidate with older age may be given a better rank. But from this 12 months onwards, this component has been nullified.

PUBLICATION OF MERIT LIST

1. Overall merit List: This merit list includes the names and ranks of all candidates who will appear for NEET(UG) . This is the first list of merit and is prepared by NTA. This merit list is sent to all counseling centers at the national and state levels. .
2. 15 Percent AIQ Merit List: This merit list contains only the names of candidates who would qualify for the NEET(UG) result. This list of merits is prepared by the Medical Councellimg Committee (MCC).
3. State Quota Merit list: Each state will establish its individual merit list for admission to the 85% state quota seats. These merit lists include only those candidates who qualify for the NEET(UG) result and register for each state's counseling.

NEET(UG) EXAM COUNSELLING PROCESS

To participate in the counselling for NEET(UG) qualified candidates will have to register first on the official website of MCC by providing the required details and paying the registration fee.MCC will conduct the NEET(UG)counselling on behalf of (DGHS). The NEET(UG)counselling process consists of four rounds and is held to facilitate the allocation of seats at the All India (AIQ) and State levels. The AIQ category will allow 15 percent of the total places at each participating medical school, with the remaining 85 percent reserved for state medical schools for candidates from their respective states.

NEET UG 2024: How can apply

Step 1. Go to the Official Website of NEET UG. Click on "NEET-UG"and Click on "New Registration". Candidates willing to apply for NEET UG shall be required to create an online profile of themselves to generate a User ID and Password.

Step 2. This User ID and Password created will allow the candidate to log in as an applicant for NEET UG and register an online application. The “Go To Application” link will allow the candidate to continue with the application immediately. If the login password is lost, it can be retrieved by clicking “Forgot Your Password”.

Step 3. After completing the registration process, candidates have to click on 'Complete Application Form'. It is mandatory to fill remaining details in the application form of NEET UG.

Step 4. The Candidates can log in with the system-generated Application Number and pre-created Password for completing the Application Form including filling up personal details, choosing the Question Paper medium and Examination Cities, providing the details of Educational Qualifications, and uploading the images and documents (if any)-

i. The recent photograph should be either in colour or black and white with 80% face (without mask) visible including ears against a white background.

ii. Scanned photographs, signature, Left and Right hand Fingers, Thumb impressions should be in JPG format.

iii. Scanned Category Certificate (if applicable), Citizenship Certificate (if applicable), and PwBD Certificate (wherever applicable) should be in pdf format.

iv. The size of the scanned passport photograph should be between 10 kb to 200 kb.

v. The size of the scanned Postcard photograph (4”x6”) should be between 10 kb to 200 kb.

vi. The size of the scanned signature should be between 4 kb to 30 kb.

vii. The size of scanned Left and Right hand Fingers, Thumb impressions as per the Template provided (Appendix-XIX) should be between 10 kb to 200 kb.

viii. The size of the scanned copy of the Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS etc.) should be in pdf between 50kb to 300kb.

ix. The size of the scanned copy of the PwBD certificate should be between 50 kb to 300 kb.

x. The size of the scanned copy of Class 10 pass certificate should be between 50 kb to 300 kb.

xi. The size of the scanned copy of the Citizenship certificate/Embassy certificate or any Documentary proof of Citizenship certificate should be between 50 kb to 300 kb.

xii. The size of address proof of present address and permanent address should be between 50 kb to 300 kb.

Step 5. Once the application fee is paid, a confirmation page or acknowledgment receipt will be generated. This means that the application for NEET UG has been successfully submitted. A copy of the NEET UG acknowledgment or confirmation page will also be sent to the registered email as well as the mobile number of the candidates. Candidates are advised to save this acknowledgment receipt for future reference. They are also advised to take a printout of the same for reference.

Step 6. Take a printout of the filled Application form with Transaction ID printed on it for records.

NEET UG 2024: Application Fees

After the uploading of documents as per the specifications mentioned above, the option to pay the NEET application fee will appear on the screen. Click on 'pay examination fee'. The application fee of NEET UG can be paid in online mode only. NEET application fees varies for general, OBC/ST/SC, and EWS categories.

Online payment mode: Candidates can pay the NEET application fee through Debit/Credit/Net banking or Unified Payment Interface (UPI) using State Bank of India/Syndicate Bank/ICICI Bank/HDFC Bank/Paytm service provider. Candidates must ensure that the Credit/Debit card used for payment is within the validity period. For net banking, it is advisable to check the balance of the account and keep all the credentials ready before logging on to submit the application form.

Note: Keep the proof of payment in the form of transaction ID/ receipt in case of online payment safe till admission is complete.

NEET UG 2024: Scheme of Exam

NEET UG Examination is to be conducted in offline mode (Pen & Paper) which consists of a total of three sections i.e. Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology). NEET UG 2024: Admission to the Examination Centres

1. The Examination Centre will be opened two hours before the commencement of the test. Therefore, candidates must ensure that they leave home well in advance considering all facts like traffic, location of the Centre, weather conditions, etc. Candidates are expected to take their seats immediately after the opening of the Examination Hall.

2. The candidate must show, on-demand, the Admit Card for admission in the Examination Hall. A candidate who does not possess a valid Admit Card shall not be allowed to enter the Examination Hall by the Centre Superintendent.

3. A seat with a roll number will be allotted to each candidate. Candidates must find out and occupy their allotted seats. If a candidate is found appearing in the Examination from a seat or room other than the allotted one, the candidature shall be cancelled.

4. During the examination time, the Invigilator will check Admit Card of the candidates to ascertain the identity of each candidate. The Invigilators will also put their own signature in the place provided in the Answer Sheet and on the Attendance Sheet.

5. A candidate who comes late shall not be permitted to enter the Examination Centre under any circumstances.

6. Candidates must bring only the following documents on the day of examination at the test centre. Candidates who will not bring these will not be allowed to sit in the examination.

A) A printed copy of Admit Card downloaded from website with passport size photograph (same as uploaded on the Application form pasted on it).

B) One passport size photograph (same as uploaded on the Online Application Form) for pasting on the specific space in the Attendance Sheet at Centre during Examination.

C) One Post Card Size (4”X6”) color photograph with white background should be pasted on the Proforma downloaded with the Admit Card. The proforma with Post Card size photograph shall be handed over to the Invigilator in the Examination Hall.

D) Any one of the authorized photo IDs (must be original and valid and like PAN card/ Driving License/ Voter ID/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card / Ration Card/ Class 12 Admit Card with Photograph /any other valid photo ID issued by the Government.

E) PwBD certificate issued by the Competent Authority, if claiming the relaxation under PwBD category.

7. Candidates are not allowed to bring any barred item or any item which could be used for Unfair practices. Possession of any such article with the candidates inside the Centre premises will attract the penalties of unfair practices.

NEET UG 2024: Mode of Selection

The NTA will prepare the Merit List/ All India Rank (AIR) as per Qualifying/ Eligibility Criteria and other norms as well as the relevant regulations/guidelines of NMC/ DGHS/ MCC/ DCI and Ministry of Ayush/ NCISM/ NCH/ AACCC.

1) In order to be eligible for admission to Undergraduate Medical Courses for a particular academic year in case of General, General-EWS, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, it shall be necessary for a candidate to obtain a minimum of marks at the 50th, 40th percentile in National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test to Undergraduate Medical Courses held for the said academic year.

2) Provided when a sufficient number of candidates in the respective categories fail to secure minimum marks as prescribed in National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test held for any academic year for admission to Undergraduate Medical Courses, the Central Government in consultation with the Medical Council of India and Dental Council of India, Central Council of Indian Medicine and Central Council of Homeopathy may at its discretion lower the minimum marks required for admission to Undergraduate Medical Courses for candidates belonging to respective categories and marks so lowered by the Central Government shall be applicable for the said academic year only.

A list of the successful candidates in order of All India Rank based on the marks obtained in the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test NEET UG will be prepared by the NTA.
