NEET(PG) PREPARATION STRATEGY
1. Have a Target in your Mind:- As a preparatory step to your NEET(PG) preparation, the first and foremost thing for you to do is to set a goal. Take a pen and a chart paper and write your goal on it in bold letters. Find a comfortable place in your room to study and paste it near your study area. This will remind you of your goals again and again.
2. Create a study schedule:- A study plan helps to organize study schedules based on the study times for individual subjects and their learning goals. This mechanism will take you back to the school days where you would dedicate a specific time for studying each subject. Medical aspirants should have weekly learning goals based on the topics and subjects. The timetable should be prepared in such a manner that it gives you the room to revise each topic multiple times.
3. Start with basics:- If you wish to get a good score in NEET(PG) you have to go through everything, hence it can be difficult to understand what topics to cover first. Experts suggest starting with the basics and short subjects. These are comparatively easier subjects and will take up less time. By completing these subjects you complete almost 60% of the syllabus.
4. Make notes and highlight important information:- When reading a topic, underline/ highlight the points that you feel are important and can be asked in the examination. This habit will help you save time during revision. You can quickly go through the points that are important and skip the rest.
5. Register for mock tests and test series:- Taking a mock test will help you understand the pattern of the questions and assess your strengths and weaknesses. NEET(PG) Mock Test will be available on the official website of the National Board of Education. The test is conducted to select eligible candidates for postgraduate medical programs. Registered candidates can take the mock test for their practice sessions.
6. Reward Yourself Often:- Other than setting long-term goals, also set some short-term goals and treat yourself upon completion of these goals. This will motivate you to finish topics in a time-bound manner.
7. Check and Evaluate Yourself:- The reason behind one’s failure is that in the process of reaching a goal and memorizing a given material, students generally forget to evaluate themselves due to the shortage of time. It is highly imperative to see where you stand and how much nearer to the goal you have reached. This may help you make the required changes to your devised strategy from time to time. To not be too stringent about the study plan, as the changes are bound to happen once you start working upon achieving your goal.
8. Seek advice from a mentor:- Preparing for NEET(PG) at home without coaching is not going be to be easy. You need a guide or a mentor to help you move in the right direction. Seek help from an old college professor or a senior, anyone who knows what NEET(PG) is about.
9. Consistency is your key to success:- Be consistent and motivated as this is a long journey and losing focus in between will make you lag behind your competitors.
10. Choosing the best books for NEET PG :- It’s very important to gather the best study materials that can help the candidates with the preparation. There are loads of books in the market for NEET(PG) exam, but choosing the best books is a crucial task.
